Knownwell Review: What It Costs and What to Know

Checked Sep 11, 2026

We don't list knownwell, and we earn nothing if you choose it. knownwell is at knownwell.co.

Knownwell is a weight management practice that sees you online or at in-person clinics in select cities, and its site lists primary care as available in Plano only. As of September 11, 2026, its site advertised an average visit cost of $31 with insurance and self-pay pricing of $299 for a first visit and $149 for follow-ups, and its homepage gives its own 16% average weight-loss figure two different timeframes, 12 months and two years.

What Knownwell is and what it treats

Knownwell is a weight management practice that offers virtual visits nationwide plus in-person clinics in select cities, and says you see the same clinician across visits; its site menu lists primary care as "Plano Only." As of September 11, 2026, its medication overview page listed five weight-management prescriptions, Wegovy, Zepbound, Foundayo, Qsymia, and Contrave, plus two it labels as diabetes medications, Ozempic and Mounjaro.
Knownwell's pricing page states it does not dispense medications, is not a pharmacy, does not set or control medication prices, and does not receive any financial benefit based on which medication you choose.

What it costs, as of September 11, 2026

As of September 11, 2026, Knownwell's homepage and insurance page both advertised an average visit cost of $31 with insurance, which the insurance page footnotes as the average cost per visit when using insurance. If you do not have insurance or your plan is not listed, Knownwell's insurance page states out-of-pocket pricing of $299 for a first visit and $149 for follow-up visits.
On medication, Knownwell's overview page said Wegovy starts at $149, Zepbound at $299, Foundayo at $149, Qsymia at $98, Contrave at $99, and Ozempic at $149, and listed Mounjaro without a price. Its more detailed pricing page, which says "Last Updated: May 7, 2026," listed a Wegovy pill at $149 a month marked "Until end of August 2026," a Wegovy pen at $349 a month, a Zepbound QwikPen or vial at $299 a month, a Zepbound pen at $499 a month with coupon, and a Foundayo pill at $149 a month marked "Until end of December 2026."
The two pages do not agree on Ozempic. The overview page said Ozempic starts at $149, while the detailed pricing page listed Ozempic at $349 a month, with a limited-time offer for new enrollees of $199 for 2 months. And as of September 11, 2026, the detailed pricing page still listed the $149 Wegovy pill price as running "Until end of August 2026," an end date that had already passed, so confirm that price with Knownwell before you rely on it.
For Contrave, Knownwell listed $99 a month with a Savings Coupon Card Program via Ridgeway Pharmacy, alongside generic naltrexone and bupropion at $55 a month with a GoodRx coupon. It listed Qsymia at $98 a month with shipping not included, alongside generic phentermine and topiramate at $10 a month with a GoodRx coupon, and it notes that the Contrave and Qsymia clinical trials used proprietary formulations and may not reflect results with the generic components taken separately. One Wegovy pen listing on the page showed the same limited-time offer as Ozempic, $199 for 2 months for new enrollees. All prices on the detailed pricing page are labeled list pricing based on information provided by the respective drug manufacturers, and the page says the price you pay may vary.

How it works

Knownwell operates by telehealth nationwide, with in-person clinics in select cities, and its site emphasizes seeing the same clinician at every visit. Its site also describes a size-inclusive approach to in-person care, naming welcoming clinics with size-inclusive seating and private weighing as part of the experience.
To check which plans are in network, Knownwell's insurance page has a state selector, and its FAQ says: "Use the tool above to filter by your state and see which plans we're in-network with." As of September 11, 2026, the page's plan list, headed "The following plans are in-network with knownwell in," was empty until a state is chosen, so this review does not name specific plans.

Insurance and payment

Knownwell's insurance page states that coverage for weight management medications like GLP-1s depends on a few key things: your specific plan, since commercial insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare each have different rules; your medication, since some plans cover certain GLP-1s like Foundayo but not others; your diagnosis, since coverage for type 2 diabetes is often broader than for weight management alone; and prior authorization, which most plans require before approving coverage.
Knownwell's homepage says: "We accept hundreds of major commercial insurance plans nationwide." Its insurance page FAQ says Knownwell is in-network with most major commercial insurance plans and Medicare, and that if you're covered and have met your deductible, you'll typically only owe a co-pay or co-insurance for your visit; if you haven't met your deductible yet, your visits may go toward it first. These are Knownwell's own statements, and the text of its pages does not name specific insurers.
Knownwell's insurance page FAQ, answering "Does Medicare cover weight management?", says: "Yes, knownwell accepts Medicare, which covers weight management care and, in many cases, treatment with your care team. Coverage for medications varies by plan." Its pricing page adds that if you are enrolled in Medicare or other federal or state insurance, you will need to fill at certain pharmacies like NovoCare or LillyDirect to receive discounts. A banner on its pages says "The Medicare Bridge GLP-1 Program is live." This review did not open the program's own page and does not describe what it covers.

What to know before you sign up

Knownwell's own homepage gives its headline figure two timeframes. Its hero section states "16% average 12-month weight loss using GLP-1s." Lower on the same page, a stats block states "16% average weight loss at two years." Both are Knownwell's own reported figures, and the homepage does not explain whether the two describe different measurements.
A related figure Knownwell reports, that 97% of those in Knownwell's care keep weight off after two years, appears on its homepage, medication overview page and pricing page without a named study or methodology next to it, unlike the drug-specific trial figures on its pricing page.
On the pricing side, the detailed pricing page, which says it was last updated May 7, 2026, still listed the $149 Wegovy pill price "Until end of August 2026" when checked on September 11, 2026, after that stated end date had passed. Confirm current pricing directly with Knownwell before assuming any promotional figure still applies.
Knownwell's insurance page FAQ also says it doesn't charge membership fees, and that if you're in-network, you pay what you'd pay for any other covered medical visit. It says its team handles prior authorization on your behalf, working directly with your insurance, and that whether insurance covers weight loss medications like Foundayo, Wegovy, or Zepbound depends on your specific plan.

Who it may suit, and who may want to look elsewhere

Knownwell may suit you if you want a hybrid model, visits billed to insurance with the option of an in-person clinic in one of its select cities.
You may want to look elsewhere if you need certainty on a specific promotional price before you commit, since as of September 11, 2026 its pricing page still showed a Wegovy pill price whose stated end date had passed, and its overview and pricing pages gave different Ozempic prices. The same is true if you want to see exactly which plans are in network before you start, since Knownwell's insurance page routes that through a state selector.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Knownwell cost?

As of September 11, 2026, Knownwell advertised an average visit cost of $31 with insurance, with self-pay pricing of $299 for a first visit and $149 for follow-ups. On its detailed pricing page, monthly medication prices ran from $10 for generic phentermine and topiramate with a GoodRx coupon up to $499 for the Zepbound pen with coupon, and some listed prices were limited-time offers you should confirm are still active before you rely on them.

How is Knownwell different from other clinics?

Knownwell combines virtual visits with in-person clinics in select cities and says you see the same clinician across visits. Its pricing page names published clinical trials next to the drug weight-loss figures it lists.

What does the reviews section say about Knownwell?

This review's text does not quote review counts or star ratings. What Knownwell's own site confirms, as of September 11, 2026, is covered in the sections above: dated pricing, insurance mechanics, and the places where its own pages disagree.

What is the highest rated weight loss program?

This page does not compare star ratings across weight-loss programs. For Knownwell specifically, what is verifiable as of September 11, 2026 is its dated pricing, its insurance mechanics, and the two timeframes its homepage gives for the same 16% weight-loss figure.

Does Knownwell accept Medicare?

Yes, according to Knownwell's insurance page FAQ, which said as of September 11, 2026: "knownwell accepts Medicare, which covers weight management care and, in many cases, treatment with your care team. Coverage for medications varies by plan." Its pricing page says that if you are enrolled in Medicare, you will need to fill at certain pharmacies like NovoCare or LillyDirect to receive discounts. A banner on its site says "The Medicare Bridge GLP-1 Program is live"; this review did not open that program's page, so confirm its details with Knownwell.

Are Knownwell's weight-loss medications compounded?

Knownwell's medication pages, checked September 11, 2026, name brand-name medications, including Wegovy, Zepbound, Foundayo, Qsymia, and Contrave for weight management and Ozempic and Mounjaro for diabetes, and its pricing page also lists generic naltrexone and bupropion and generic phentermine and topiramate with GoodRx coupons. We found no statement about compounded medications on those pages, and Knownwell says it does not dispense medications and is not a pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.
